Process

Knitting is such a process to me. I love watching how the piece grows and shapes itself. This is too why I love working with variegated yarns.

My mailperson is not done delivering yet. However, my last order was ordered today. The colors of Shibui that Nachaele showed me today was just too much to resist. Who needs food, I have yarn.

Speaking of awesome beyond words. Nachaele brought me a pattern for the Transition Gloves and the Central Park hoodie today. She also brought me Malabrigo...blue, purple, and red. Gorgeous! I love love love how this stuff felts. I'm sure it will knit something nicely as well. It feels soft and not nearly as itchy as Kureyon, a scarf may be in order. Thank you Nachaele!

This is how the wine cozy looks so far. I have the top part and the handle to puzzle out still, as well as the felting.

I've discovered a use for this bucket too. My X-MIL gave me a bucket bath stuff for Christmas because she liked this bucket. I wasn't sure what to do with it, but it seems just the perfect thing for a small project and my couch.

This is the scarf for my friend. It just seemed like a good idea...and well, I apparently am the scarf maker. I think I can knit anything, but I always seem to make scarves. This is a multidirectional scarf. It's turning out sort of neat but the color transitions are just slightly longer than I anticipated. So it doesn't quite fit the picture I had in my head. Also I was hoping to start with black and end with black, however it makes for a very short scarf. Therefore, for the very tall person it will need to start with black and most likely end with white.

I can't wait until June. I need more spinning fiber.

In the mail today...3 packages greeted me.

This one is from Crash Into Ewe. This is the Jewel colorway. Pictures do not do this stuff justice. I'm not sure how it will knit up, but looking at it made me want al of the colors I could possibly get my hands on.

The reds look great the orange and green looked great. I don't know if I noticed a black or not, but I sure do hope she keeps making these great yarns for a long time.

This came from Stash Up Yarns. I liked the name, Peace Rose, on the left and the color on the right. Peace roses are my very favorite roses. This yarn looks just like one.

This came from Loopy Ewe. Angela is the colorway on the left. I love black and a contrasting colorway. The color on the left is Cosmic Dawn, it is silk and sea cell, and it is amazing to touch. I have plans for Cosmic Dawn in the form of a Clapotis, although this yarn is not worsted weight. Either way I think it'll make a grand scarf.

Okay, so my blog doesn't make any sense and doesn't follow any sort of writing pattern. That's what happens when I write part of the blog during the day and the rest at night.

I found this at Michaels today. It just screams felted bag to me. I hate it when yarn talks to me. I don't have a pattern in mind really, although the felted recycled bag pattern that I saw over the weekend and Knit Knack spoke to me.

I thought while I was driving home today what is my favorite color. I'm not sure. I'm still partial to purples, blues and blacks, but really I just enjoy yarn. Does the color rainbow count? Although I do have to admit that I had one friend who tried to buy yarn for me for 2 Christmas holidays and I wasn't exceptionally crazy about what she picked.

Lastly, aren't presents great? This one is for a friend. Won't she be surprised. :)

Seeking socks

I have been bitten by the sock yarn bug, badly. I'm looking for sock yarn, any color, mostly superwash wool, and wool/nylon mixes. I want to make a mitered blanket, and while I know that making a blanket, out of fingering weight yarn, may drive me 1) nuts, 2) until I die, it still seems like a good idea to me.

With that said, if you happen to stumble upon this blog and you are destashing. I'm considering paying some for left over sock yarn, or sock yarn that is just taking up room in your stash. Leave a comment we'll chat.

Will it ever end...never mind got distracted...

I was going to write another blog about more snow, but I forgot to take a picture. That's okay, there's more in the forecast next week. In the mean time, enjoy these snowmen. I'm sure I'll have more pictures during next week's snowstorm.

There isn't much to say about knitting or yarn right now. I started making a pair of socks, hypothetically for my cousin's husband. Who's been asking for the last two years. Really, I just don't knit that fast, and well...I get side tracked easily.

For instance, I found this tonight at JoAnn's which will be turned into some sort of blanket like thing for a friend who's having a baby. I know four women having babies so far. All about the same time too. Only two will actually get blankets hopefully out of me. I'm not sure what color I want to make the other one out of. I may wait to see if they find out what the gender is first.

This here will make a perhaps nifty pair of socks. I like the colorway. Cherry chocolate. Cheap yarn will be the end of me. I can't wait until the Estes Park Wool Festival.

A hat here for my son. The one I bought is too small. So I thought I'd make one. Wool and soy. Now I just need a hat pattern.

A scarf for my daughter. How I love self striping yarns. She kind of liked it. It'll still looked nifty. After the scarf Imbrium made I'm sure it'll look nifty either way.

A bundle of wool from my friend for Christmas. I have no idea what I want to do with this yet. 100% wool. I'm sure I could think of something to felt it into.

I still have the blanket for my sister to finish and I've started spinning some roving that I bought 3 years ago or so that my daughter picked out.

I will need to acquire some of the lace yarn from Yarn Place that Imbrium acquired. So much yarn...running out of room...must buy another box although I really ought to use some of the stuff.

Udon...mmm...Not as good as the stuff in the mall, but does in a pinch. update: that stuff was spicy...oops...my poor babies ate it anyway...brave kiddos eating things mommy finds at the Asian market...

This is my attempt at entrelac. I have a much bigger pattern and plan with different yarn... It will be a wrap in Noro yarn...beautiful...but practice...practice is good.

The best part of my own little kitchen are my egg magnets. They amuse me. I also have a whisk, which started it all, and an egg slicer...they're just too funny...

Why is it that some of us have such a hard time saying "I love you?" A random act of violence makes me ponder this. I have friends who knew her. I grew up near there... I think once you're a part of a small mountain community it never really leaves you. Even though now I live far away from the trees and quiet. From the place that once caused me much misery. Still hits home. But that's off the original topic. It's an important thing to say. Always, not occasionally. I think it would be worse not to say it and never get another chance to say it rather than say it and be rejected. Gotta remember that.

The bread knife snuck up on me...

ow...

ow...

stupid hiding knife in the water for washing dishes.

I forgot my knitting book today. I had nothing to read at work. What's worse?! I forgot my knitting too!

When I got home my boy child did bring me this...

"Mom-ee, Mom-ee...here!" I'm going to make him a blanket. It's self striping and awesome. He picked the colors. Super cute! Still in diapers and does not understand that LYS are not for running. Truly a bummer. That is what the internet is for. :)

A funny side note. I am a pretty decent cook. I have learned the basics and I have always thought who on earth would buy pre-sliced carrots, or potatoes, etc etc, because who can't cut up a carrot? Yesterday I found out the answer to my question...the type of people who buy stuff like that is...ME.

Two young children, and me...ack! Sure, that's fast, that's simple...pre-shredded potatoes? GREAT! Hurry, hurry! Get out of the store before the recognize the snacks.

Tickles me greatly thinking over this.

Oh, the other thing I noticed...delving into blogs...knit blogs per se...is that there seems to be much swapping going on here. Good thing and a bad thing. I used to be quite into the FB's, Decos, Slams, Sticker Swaps, and a few others...note pads or stationary. I would get at least a package a week. And I must say, there is nothing nicer than getting mail. But alas, when I moved I stopped. Sooo...tempting to start again...although with yarn. Ponder, ponder.
